Former Arab League chief Amr Moussa and former Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq stood fourth and fifth, with 12 percent and five percent of the vote respectively. The first round of the presidential election in Egypt will be held over two days on May 23 and 24, and a run-off would take place on June 16 and 17 if necessary. Final results are expected on June 21. Meanwhile, the Egyptian High Presidential Election Commission (HPEC) has vowed new security measures and a transparent voting atmosphere.
