Egypt's fertilizers exports sagged 40% in 2015- report

Egyptian exports of fertilizers have declined 40 percent in 2015 to record 2.8 billion Egyptian pounds (US$357.5 million) versus 4.7 billion pounds in 2014.
According to the latest report released Sunday by Egypt's Chemical and Fertilizers Export Council, fertilizers sector captured 12.4 percent of the total exports of chemical industries.
Fertilizers exports was unstable in 2015 since they reached the lowest level in the second quarter, registering 457.9 million pounds and hit the highest level during the fourth quarter recording 1.2 billion pounds.
The report showed that ten firms have seized 89.3 percent of Egypt's fertilizers exports in 2015 with exports estimated at 2.5 billion pounds.
Leading the list of largest fertilizers exporters, Egyptian Fertilizers Company (EFC) has captured 24 percent of the total volume with exports worth 596.3 million pounds.
AlexFert Company was the second largest exporter in 2015 whose exports estimated at 335.1 million pounds followed by Misr Oil Processing And Fertilizers- MOPCO with exports worth 310.8 million pounds then Abu Zaabal Fertilizer and Chemical Company (AZFC) whose exports recorded 258.9 million pounds.
The report stated that 10 states have captured 87 percent of Egypt's exports of fertilizers during 2015 with exports totaling 2.4 billion pounds.
