Egypt's Arab Contractors completes phase II in Kuwait $859mn Al-Jahra Road

Egypt's leading construction firm, Arab Contractors has completed the second phase of a road project in Al-Jahra, 32 kilometres (20 miles) west of Kuwait City in Kuwait.
Aiming to reduce the growing traffic congestion and improve traffic safety, the Al-Jahra Road Project is with a total investment cost estimated at KD261million (US$859 million).
The Jahra road in its original state has been one of the core transport routes running through the heart of Kuwait, and was witnessing exceedingly busy traffic lines with consistently rising numbers of users. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Public Works has undertaken strategic plans to improve motorways and transport infrastructure in Kuwait. The Jahra Road Development Project is one key project which will transform the simple three lane road into a grand unified highway.
Mohsen Salah – Chairman of Arab Contractors – said the completion rate in Jahra road project had neared 90 percent.
The project is divided into 5 sequential phases, with total lengths of 53 kilometres. The first phase included a tunnel in Al-Jahra Street beneath the second ring road in addition to the surface works.
For the second phase, it involved the surface works from the project eastern borders and upper road till the intersection of the Hospital Street and the upper road in the Hospital Street and junctions JRA, JRB, JRC, JRD, JRE, JRF, HRA, and HRB. The third phase contains the upper road after the hospital intersection till the intersection of Ghazali Street.
The fourth phase will encompass the upper road from the Airport Street till the west of Ghazali Street intersection; and the upper road in the Hospital Street and junctions JRN, JRM, and ARA.
Additionally, the fifth phase consists of the east and west of Ghazali Street and the upper road in Ghazali Street and junctions JRK, JRL, GRA, GRB, and GRC.
Meanwhile, Arab Contractors has carried out a group of major projects in Kuwait, notably, the Police Academy, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Industry's building, and Al Jahraa and Doha Water Tanks Towers.
Moreover, the Egyptian official added that his firm is currently implementing the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Hospital project, which would be the biggest hospital in the Middle East region and the sixth in the worth.
