EGX 30 Goes on 4-day Winning Streak, Nears 6500 at Close

Egypt stocks have ended higher on Wednesday attaining gains totaled EGP 2.75 billion backed by local net buyers. The benchmark index surged 1.4% to near 6500 points.
The Egyptian Exchange indices were wavering on green notes on Wednesday afternoon, except for the mid- and small-cap index, EGX70 which solely fell by 0.05%.
Egypt's benchmark index EGX30 ended 1.41 per cent higher to 6497.56 pts, and the EGX20 also finished 1.45 per cent up to 7581.95 pts.
Meanwhile, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 dipped by 0.05 per cent to conclude at 537.26 pts. The price index EGX100 increased by 0.30 per cent to close at 898.09 pts.
The capital market has closed at EGP 417.198 billion on Wednesday.
Higher Turnovers
Through the closing session of Wednesday, the trading volume has reached 247.948 million securities. For the traded value, it hit EGP 751.746 million, exchanged through 33.795 thousand transactions.
Also during the closing session, 186 listed securities have been traded in; 80 declined, 91 advanced; while 15 keeping their previous levels.
Investors' Activity
Egyptians were net buyers bolstering EGX's closing gains acquiring 79.14% of the total market, with a net equity of EGP 17.802 million, excluding the deals.
On the other hand, the non-Arab foreigners and Arabs were net sellers for they seized 10.94% and 9.92% respectively, of the total market, with net equities of EGP 7.102 million and EGP 10.699 million, excluding the deals.
Mohamed Mahmoud Anniversary; Clashes Erupted
A ministry of health official has said that 17 people were injured nationwide on Tuesday, as various demonstrations took place to commemorate the anniversary of violent clashes in 2011.
The injuries are mostly bruises and breathing difficulties, the official said.
Several thousand protesters opposed to both the military and the Muslim Brotherhood gathered on Tuesday in Cairo's Tahrir Square for the second anniversary of the Mohamed Mahmoud Street clashes, which pitted anti-military protesters against security forces in November 2011. The clashes lasted for six days and left 47 dead and at least 3,000 injured.
