Egypt's Minister of State for Military Production Mohamed Salah El-Din held Tuesday high-level talks with executives from France's Thales and South Korea's Poongsan Corporation at the EDEX 2025 defence expo. The meetings underscored a push to expand joint military manufacturing and localise advanced technologies, a ministry statement said. The discussions focused on technology transfer, production partnerships, and enhancing Egypt's domestic defense capabilities. Salah El-Din highlighted existing collaborations, including Benha Electronics' work with Thales on communication systems and air defence technology. Thales' vice officials praised Egypt's military exhibits at the fair and expressed interest in broadening cooperation, combining the firm's advanced technology in defense, aerospace, and cybersecurity with Egypt's industrial and human resources. Salah El-Din also met Poongsan's officials to explore partnerships in ammunition and armoured vehicle production. He showcased the ministry's latest innovations, including Rada'a 300 (Deterrence 300) – a guided rocket launcher – and the Sina 806 repair and rescue vehicle, noting ongoing efforts to develop new and upgraded defence products in collaboration with domestic and international partners. Poongsan officials highlighted their production of a wide range of ammunition and industrial materials, emphasising the potential for expanded cooperation with Egypt's military manufacturing units.
