Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly met Alexey Likhachev, head of Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom, on Wednesday on the sidelines of a ceremony to install the reactor pressure vessel for the first unit of the Dabaa nuclear plant, the Cabinet said. Madbouly said the meeting underscored his personal follow-up of the project, noting recent progress and the high-level attendance at the installation event. The ceremony coincided with Egypt's Nuclear Energy Day on Nov. 19, which marks the 2015 agreement with Russia to build and operate the country's first nuclear plant. "Dabaa should not be viewed solely as a power-generation project, but as a key pillar of Egypt's Vision 2030," Madbouly said, adding that Cairo hopes to broaden cooperation with Moscow during the plant's operational phase, especially in training and technology transfer. The two sides reviewed preparations for the plant's operation and the ongoing programme to train Egyptian personnel at Rosatom's scientific and technical institutions.
