Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly has appointed Ahmed Abdel Aziz as deputy chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) under a new decree, the regulator said on Sunday. The move follows President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's decree No. 421/2025 earlier this month to renew the mandate of Mohamed Farid Saleh as acting FRA chairman for a fourth term, effective 7 August, 2025. Abdel Aziz will serve for the remainder of the FRA board's current term, set under a 2022 Cabinet decree. The regulator said Abdel Aziz brings more than 25 years of executive experience in the insurance sector. He currently serves as adviser to the FRA chairman and previously was CEO and managing director of Misr Life Insurance from 2021 to June 2025, after leading the company from 2016 to 2021. He also held senior posts at Al Rajhi Takaful in Riyadh between 2009 and 2014 and helped establish several insurance startups in Egypt and the Gulf, contributing to restructuring efforts, profitability gains and market share expansion. Abdel Aziz holds a medical degree from Ain Shams University and passed the USMLE exams in the United States in 1998. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
