Transcargo International (TCI), which operates at Al Adabiya port within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), received Egypt's first customs licence to operate as a distribution center within Egyptian ports. Under the new licence, TCI will be authorised to import goods in its name as a custodian rather than as an owner. The goods will be stored within the port until final customs clearance or re-export to other destinations, helping accelerate trade cycles and reduce shipping times. The licence, granted by the Egyptian Customs Authority in cooperation with the SCZONE, aligns with the country's strategy to transform Egypt into a regional logistics hub that supports intercontinental trade and boosts trade flows. Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), said the new licence marks a key step toward advancing logistics services across SCZONE ports.
