UK inflation remained unchanged in September, with the Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rising by 4.1 per cent in the 12 months to September 2025, the same rate as in August, according to official data released Wednesday. Monthly, CPIH increased by 0.1 per cent, matching the rate recorded in September 2024. The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) also remained stable, rising by 3.8 per cent in the year to September 2025, unchanged from August. Month-on-month, CPI recorded no change, consistent with the same period last year. Transport made the largest upward contribution to the monthly change in both CPIH and CPI annual rates, while recreation and culture, as well as food and non-alcoholic beverages, provided the main offsetting downward contributions. Core CPIH, which excludes energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, rose by 3.9 per cent in the 12 months to September 2025, slightly down from 4.0 per cent in August. The annual rate for CPIH goods increased from 2.8 per cent to 2.9 per cent, while the rate for CPIH services remained steady at 4.9 per cent. Core CPI, excluding energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, rose by 3.5 per cent in the year to September 2025, down from 3.6 per cent in August. The CPI goods annual rate edged up from 2.8 per cent to 2.9 per cent, and the services rate was unchanged at 4.7 per cent. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser Download
