Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Tuesday urged countries that have not yet recognised a Palestinian state to take that step, describing it as vital to advancing a two-state solution and achieving lasting stability in the Middle East. The appeal came during a meeting in Cairo with Park Beom-kye, the special envoy of South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, as the two nations marked the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties. Park delivered a letter from Lee expressing appreciation for Egypt's support of peace efforts on the Korean Peninsula and extending an invitation to deepen cooperation. Sisi congratulated Lee on his election in June and said he looked forward to welcoming him to Cairo soon. Sisi highlighted the rapid expansion of ties with South Korea in recent years, describing the country as a "vital economic partner" and encouraging more Korean companies to invest in Egypt. He pointed to Egypt's stability, trade agreements with Arab and African nations, and growing competitiveness as advantages for potential investors. The talks also touched on broader regional challenges. Sisi praised South Korea's development model while stressing Egypt's commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, including investment, industry and education.
