During the launch of the government's National Narrative for Economic Development, El-Khatib said the strategy, drawn up with the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), the planning and international cooperation ministries, and the World Bank, targets 13 sectors — eight ready for immediate promotion and five requiring further reforms. The plan focuses on diversifying sources of capital, improving economic governance and aligning sectoral policies with Egypt's investment framework, he said, adding that detailed implementation and monitoring measures would follow. El-Khatib also cited reforms to streamline licensing, including a digital platform linking 41 state agencies and providing 389 services, 250 with online payment. He said Egypt's open trade policies were designed to boost exports, cut the trade deficit and support local producers. The minister said Egypt was preparing for inclusion in the World Bank's Business Ready report by reviewing its methodology, translating nearly 2,000 survey questions and drafting a reform matrix. Consultations with the private sector will precede Cabinet approval and implementation, he added. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English Subediting: Y.Yasser
