Egypt will begin activating a $7.5 billion package of direct investments from Qatar, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said Tuesday, describing the move as part of efforts to deepen economic partnership between the two countries. Madbouly told a Cabinet meeting the decision followed talks in Doha last week with Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, during which the two leaders discussed closer cooperation in trade and investment. He added that Egypt would continue engaging with Qatari investors to showcase opportunities in sectors ranging from infrastructure and industry to services, while offering new incentives to draw more capital.
