Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, and Indian Ambassador to Cairo Suresh Reddy, met on Monday to discuss expanding cooperation in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. Discussions centered on enhancing collaboration in outsourcing, digital capacity building, supporting start-ups, artificial intelligence, and attracting additional Indian investments into Egypt's ICT sector. The two sides also reviewed progress under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Egypt and India, covering e-government, ICT industry development, digital innovation, entrepreneurship, electronics design and manufacturing, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies. Talaat emphasised that the ICT sector is a key contributor to Egypt's national economy, particularly in outsourcing, and highlighted the joint successes achieved with Indian firms operating in the country. He also noted cooperation in digital capacity building between Egypt's Information Technology Institute and its Indian counterpart, expressing his aspiration for deeper collaboration through national initiatives to strengthen digital skills. The Indian Ambassador congratulated Talaat on Egypt being selected to host the first edition of the AI Everything Middle East and Africa Summit and Exhibition in February 2026. He noted that India will host the AI Impact Summit during the same month, emphasising that such international events are important steps to boost cooperation in artificial intelligence.
