Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Angolan President João Lourenço on Sunday on the sidelines of the African Union's Mid-Year Coordination Summit in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. President Sisi praised Angola's current chairmanship of the African Union and its efforts to strengthen joint African action across various sectors. President Lourenço, for his part, expressed appreciation for President Sisi and Egypt's pivotal and historic role in Africa and within the African Union framework. The two leaders discussed peace and security across the continent, with a focus on consolidating stability in the Horn of Africa, Sudan, the African Sahel, and the River Nile Basin. They also explored ways to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in multiple fields, building on the growing momentum in ties between the two nations and their shared aspirations for prosperity and development.
