Egypt's House Speaker Hanafy Gebaly on Thursday praised the historic and strategic nature of Egyptian-Chinese relations, expressing confidence in China's continued progress in development and reform. He commended the positive momentum in bilateral ties and highlighted key joint projects, notably the role of Chinese firms in constructing the Central Business District in Egypt's New Administrative Capital and their investments in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Gebaly made his remarks during a meeting in Cairo with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, who is visiting Egypt with an official delegation. He reaffirmed Egypt's support for the One China principle, based on respect for China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also praised the mutual support between Cairo and Beijing on regional and international issues at various multilateral forums. Premier Li expressed appreciation for the Egyptian parliament's role in fostering closer bilateral ties. He noted the significance of sustained parliamentary dialogue and Egypt's efforts to provide a legislative environment conducive to investment. Li emphasised that China-Egypt relations are grounded in cooperation, mutual respect, and shared support. He underscored the importance of economic integration between the two countries, rooted in strong collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Arab Cooperation Forum, and the China-Africa Cooperation Forum.
