Egypt's Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Rania Al Mashat held a meeting with a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to discuss boosting joint cooperation, particularly in green industry and emissions reduction. The EBRD delegation included Director of Sustainable Business and Infrastructure Gianpiero Nacci and Managing Director for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) region Mark Davis. The talks focused on maximising benefits from the EBRD's emissions reduction programme in Egypt's industrial sector to support the country's green transition and improve export access to European markets. Both sides also reviewed outcomes from the recent Financing for Development conference in Spain, stressing the need for a more responsive global financial system for developing nations. Al Mashat highlighted the success of Egypt's NWFE programme, which has mobilised $3.9 billion in concessional finance and enabled 4.2 gigawatts of new private sector-led renewable energy projects.
