Hassan Abdalla, the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), was named the "Governor of the Year" by the Arab Banking Union. Under the sponsorship of French President Emmanuel Macron, the award ceremony was organized on the sidelines of the International Arab Banking Summit in Paris. The award recognised Abdalla's key role in strengthening the stability of Egypt's banking sector, his prudent monetary policy management, and his support for the country's economic reform programme. It also reflected the growing regional and international standing of Egypt's banking system. The Arab Banking Union grants this annual award to prominent Arab banking figures who have made significant achievements and left a clear mark on the sector locally and regionally. In a speech during the ceremony, the Union's Secretary-General Wissam Fattouh praised Abdalla, saying: "Hassan Abdalla has exceeded the standards of a successful governor. With his vision, wisdom and courage, he became a model who overcame challenges and laid the foundations of monetary stability in Egypt." Fattouh added that Abdalla's monetary policies helped eliminate the black market and strengthen Egypt's foreign reserves, describing the achievement as "the product of strategic vision and exceptional administrative boldness."
