Egypt is set to host the seventh edition of Big 5 Construct Egypt from June 17 to 19 in Cairo, with a strong focus on sustainable building, digital transformation, and regional infrastructure development. The event, co-located with the third edition of Egypt Infrastructure & Water Expo, will bring together more than 350 exhibitors from over 20 countries and aims to strengthen Egypt's role as a hub for construction and urban innovation. Organised by dmg events, the exhibition is expected to showcase the latest in smart city solutions, digital construction tools, and green building technologies, with participation from leading local and international players such as Hassan Allam Holding, Orascom Construction, Bosch, Trimble, and Beijing KVS Building Materials. "This year marks the 7th edition of Big 5 Construct Egypt and the 3rd edition of Egypt Infrastructure & Water Expo." said Josine Heijmans, Senior Vice President – Construction at dmg events, in an interview with Amwal Al Ghad English. "Bringing the construction, infrastructure and water value chain together, the two events enable cross-sector dialogue and sourcing that align directly with Egypt's infrastructure goals." "What truly sets it apart is the scale and depth of participation, the diversity of topics we will explore during the exclusive content programmes and the activities we have planned on-site for our visitors." Heijmans said the event aligns with Egypt's national plans for sustainable development. "Egypt's Vision 2030 and the National Strategic Plan for Urban Development both place strong emphasis on sustainable cities, modernised infrastructure and integrated utilities, all designed to boost economic resilience and quality of life." "As Egypt continues to work towards its 2030 ambitions and 2050 development plans, the events support the country's vision by providing a space for high-impact conversations and business partnerships, all under one roof, contributing to the sector's continuous growth." Platform for Global Partnerships The event, Heijmans stated, provides "a high-impact gateway into Egypt's $570 billion construction market by offering international exhibitors direct access to local partners, project owners and government stakeholders." Such market is attracting growing international interest. "Over the years, the scale of international exhibitors has grown significantly, with an increasing number of brands seeking to tap into the Egyptian market." Heijmans said. "This year, we're welcoming exhibitors from over 20 countries, with notable representation from China, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and the UAE, highlighting the growing international interest in Egypt's evolving construction landscape and the expanding opportunities within the local market." In previous editions, the event has facilitated significant partnerships. Last year, First Option Engineering Services and ICPM Group signed a memorandum of understanding on ISO 19650 certification, while Badr became the official Egyptian distributor for Turkish firm Çekim Chemical Technologies. Focus on Sustainability and Innovation This year's content programme features over 100 speakers across more than 45 CPD-certified sessions, including Big 5 Talks, Infra360, and Water360. Topics range from project delivery and digital construction to green building practices and infrastructure financing. Sustainability will take centre stage, with sessions exploring circular construction, smart cities, and emission reduction. Awards such as Sustainable Initiative of the Year and Smart City Initiative of the Year will also be presented as part of the Big 5 Impact Awards. "There's a clear and growing appetite for green building solutions and net-zero strategies across the construction community in Egypt and the wider region." Heijmans said. "This is reflected not just in the number of sustainability-focused sessions within our Big 5 Talks programme, but also in the products and innovations on the show floor." Exhibitors at Big 5 Construct Egypt are highlighting energy-efficient materials, solar integration, water-saving technologies and circular design principles, she added. Companies such as BEAM Consolidated and Bianchi Precast Academy are showcasing solutions aimed at reducing environmental impact and improving performance, in line with Egypt's sustainability goals. "It's encouraging to see both public and private sectors coming together for a shared commitment to greener construction." Youth and Inclusion at the Forefront The exhibition also aims to empower new talent and elevate female participation in the sector. The Bokra Innovators programme returns this year, offering students and recent graduates a dedicated space to network, access career opportunities, and learn from expert-led sessions powered by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and Career 180. "The construction industry is gradually shifting toward inclusion and we're seeing momentum in how women are shaping the future of the construction value chain, particularly in areas of sustainability, digital transformation and project leadership. It's important to highlight these achievements." Heijmans said. Women will make up 25 per cent of the speaker lineup across the conference, contributing expertise in sustainable design, digital transformation, and leadership. "Big 5 Construct Egypt spotlights the growing impact of women in construction, supporting a more balanced and progressive sector." Heijmans noted. Experts from institutions such as the World Bank, the Institution of Civil Engineers and Egypt's Industrial Development Authority are contributing to key discussions on sustainability and technology. Part of a Regional Growth Strategy Following the Cairo edition, the Big 5 portfolio will continue with events in South Africa (18 – 20 June), Ethiopia (26 – 28 June), Nigeria (23 – 25 September), Qatar (12 – 14 October) and Kenya (5 – 7 November),before concluding with Big 5 Global in Dubai (24 – 27 November). dmg events is also preparing to launch new sector-specific events, including HVACR World in Dubai and HVACR Nigeria. "We're focusing on emerging, high-growth markets where urbanisation and infrastructure development are key drivers of the economy, such as the Middle East and Africa." Heijmans said in the interview.
