Egypt, represented by the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID), is participating remotely in the Inclusive Africa Conference 2025, from June 3 to 5 in Nairobi, Kenya, as per an official statement. The first day of the conference will be streamed live from NAID's headquarters in Knowledge City, New Administrative Capital, in cooperation with the Engineers for a Sustainable Egypt Foundation. Held under the theme Scaling Digital Accessibility through Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the conference aims to improve digital accessibility for persons with disabilities (PwDs) and advance assistive technology in Africa. The conference aims to involve African youth with disabilities in digital accessibility efforts by providing a platform for disability rights advocates and support groups from across Africa, the statement added. The event promotes sharing regional and international best practices in implementing accessibility standards, cultivating accessibility ambassadors, and developing accessible ICT solutions to empower PwDs in the digital economy. Additionally, the conference will explore effective strategies for expanding access to digital products and services in Africa and raising public awareness of the rights and needs of PwDs regarding access to digital information. The event will also spotlight innovations in assistive technology emerging from Africa and serve as a platform for sharing expertise in product design, market access, mentorship, and funding opportunities.
