Egypt's General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and the Egyptian Embassy in the Hague hosted a roundtable with 30 Dutch companies to explore investment opportunities in Egypt's waste management and recycling sector, GAFI said Thursday. Held on the sidelines of the World Hydrogen Summit and Exhibition in the Netherlands, the meeting aimed to boost bilateral cooperation in environmental sustainability and green industries. GAFI CEO Hossam Heiba, speaking virtually, presented Egypt's investment climate and incentives, with a focus on green industries. Heiba highlighted opportunities in the recycling sector available on Egypt's national investment map and reaffirmed the government's commitment to attracting private capital to waste management. "Egypt is prioritising this sector due to its strong economic and environmental impact," Heiba said. Dutch development finance institution Invest International voiced support for companies looking to enter Egypt's recycling market. Director Michiel Slootweg. said Dutch firms have the expertise to make a significant positive impact on Egypt's renewable energy and waste ecosystems. Thomas Marinelli, Head of Sustainable Innovation and Design at Dutch lighting giant Signify, outlined the firm's sustainability solutions and confirmed plans to expand its environmental investments in Egypt.
