Egypt will offer 1,800 fully serviced industrial land plots across 20 governorates nationwide in early June as part of efforts to attract private investment, deepen local manufacturing and accelerate export-led growth, the Ministry of Industry said Thursday. The plots, totalling more than 9 million square metres, will be made available through Egypt's digital industrial platform (www.madein.eg) from June 1 to 15. The offering covers a wide range of sectors including food processing, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, engineering, construction materials, and textiles. The move is part of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's broader strategy to revitalise the country's industrial base and create jobs. The ministry said the allocation process will be fully electronic and based on fixed, transparent criteria, with pricing tied to the actual cost of infrastructure. Land will be available through ownership or long-term usufruct, with annual lease payments set at 5 per cent of the sale price. Investors will be allowed to apply for two opportunities — a primary and a backup — to increase their chances of securing land. "The offering supports local supply chain integration, expands industrial capacity, and aims to position Egypt as a regional manufacturing hub," the ministry said. The initiative marks the tenth round of land allocation and includes plots in cities such as New Fayoum, Wadi El-Natroun, Qena, Sohag, East Qantara, and New Toshka. Plot sizes range from 200 to 490,000 square metres. To ease access, the ministry has cut study fees by 50 per cent, scrapped proposal submission and financial guarantee requirements, and simplified the project documentation process. Investors can review technical details and download application booklets for free ahead of submission. Results will be announced within two weeks of the deadline, with updates provided via email and SMS.
