Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health to boost cooperation in addressing shared health challenges, the Egyptian Cabinet reported on Sunday. The agreement, signed during Abdel Ghaffar's visit to the kingdom on May 3-4, 2025, outlines joint efforts in a wide range of fields, including public health programmes, epidemic control, therapeutic services, telemedicine, health insurance, and digital health technologies. It further covers health facility accreditation, patient safety, healthcare investment, disaster management, and international coordination on health matters. The two sides also agreed to exchange expertise on pharmaceutical care, including clinical pharmacy, drug safety, antimicrobial surveillance, and virtual pharmacy services. The MoU provides for knowledge exchange, expert visits, joint conferences, and the formation of a joint task force to oversee implementation and develop an executive plan, with additional technical committees to be formed as needed.
