Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 25 - 03 - 2025

Egypt's Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif El-Sherbiny met with Housing and Development Bank (HDB) Chairman Hassan Ghanem to discuss ongoing and future cooperation between the ministry and the bank, as a ministry statement on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Minister El-Sherbiny outlined the ministry's vision for upcoming housing projects, stressing the need for thorough planning in case the HDB is involved in launching state-owned residential developments. He emphasised addressing past challenges to ensure a seamless reservation process, ultimately strengthening public confidence in the ministry's housing initiatives.
Expanding Housing Offerings and Banking Capabilities
Ghanem hailed the ministry's ambitious plan to launch 400,000 new housing units and presented HDB's strategy to support the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) – its largest shareholder and key client. He highlighted the bank's ongoing efforts to expand customer services, introduce diverse housing and real estate options, and upgrade its infrastructure to better manage large-scale housing projects.
Enhancing Services for Large-Scale Housing Projects
The discussions also covered preparations for managing major housing offerings, including:
* Expanding HDB's branch network to facilitate transactions
* Upgrading call centre operations to improve customer support
* Providing flexible payment solutions to accommodate different income levels
