Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny held a joint meeting on Monday to enhance collaboration between their respective ministries, focusing on maximising resource utilisation and accelerating key projects that directly impact citizens. A key point of discussion was securing the supply of bitumen (asphalt) through the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) and its affiliated producers to meet the Ministry of Housing's needs for road paving projects. Ensuring a steady supply of this essential material is crucial for supporting infrastructure development and improving urban connectivity. The ministers also addressed ongoing efforts to expand the natural gas network, particularly in the western region of New Alamein City and social housing projects in Hadayek Al-Asimah City, which will serve approximately 30,000 housing units. These initiatives align with the Ministry of Petroleum's strategy to extend natural gas services as a modern utility, in coordination with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and the New Urban Communities Authority. Moreover, both sides underscored the importance of integrated efforts and continuous coordination, highlighting that previous meetings had been productive and would serve as a foundation for further cooperation. They agreed to hold additional working meetings and conduct field visits in the coming days to monitor project progress and ensure efficient implementation.
