Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib and the UAE's Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri on Tuesday, co-chaired the ministerial meeting of the fourth session of the Egyptian-UAE Joint Economic Committee in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Minister El-Khatib highlighted the importance of strengthening trade and investment ties between Egypt and the UAE. He announced the launch of negotiations for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) aimed at expanding economic cooperation and supporting investment projects and technology adoption. The Egyptian Minister also pointed to recent legislative reforms in Egypt designed to improve the investment climate, particularly in the industrial sector. The discussions covered cooperation in trade, industry, innovation, and technology, with agreements reached on exchanging expertise in industrial complexes and encouraging private sector partnerships. The two sides also agreed to collaborate in energy, food security, agriculture, transportation, logistics, housing, tourism, and healthcare. Minister El-Khatib noted that the committee meetings coincided with the fourth edition of the Investopia Summit, which featured global business forums and investor meetings.
