Egypt's Resigned ICT Minister Draws Roadmap For Sector

Eng. Atef Helmy, Egyptian resigned Minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), has put yesterday the roadmap for the ICT sector in the third place in the domestic market in order to make the map explaining that the map form within the coming five years targeting to double the current growth rates so as to reach an annual growth rate of 20%.
The resigned Minister has asserted his solidarity with the people demands within the past two days that the investment rates in the ICT sector various between direct infrastructure foreign investment for the internet around $ 4 billion and $ 2.4 billion within the coming 3 years in addition, 420 million to put the final development of broadband infrastructure spreading scheme by the end of this year.
Helmy has contributed for more that 20 signed protocol with the various governmental agencies in order to attract investments worth EGP 500 million such as money transfer via mobile phone service and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL).
Despite some ICT experts have confirmed the validity of the Minister resignation but they believe that the sector will suspend until a new Minister will be appointed.
Dr. Abdel-Rahman El-Sawy, Deputy Chairman of Communication Industry Representatives Committee at NTRA , has believed that the sector will suspend due to the current political situation as well as the Minister's resignation.
Eng. Atef Helmy was appointed since the beginning of 2013 after five Ministers were appointed since the uprising revolution of 2011 and the departure of Dr. Tarek Kamal, the previous Minister.
