Egypt's c.bank supports state-of-the-art liver transplant centre at Mansoura University

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has solidified its role as a key player in transforming the nation's healthcare landscape by supporting the establishment of the first specialised liver transplant centre in the Middle East and Africa.
Located at Mansoura University, the state-of-the-art facility marks a significant milestone in medical advancements, offering hope to thousands of patients in need of life-saving procedures.
According to a CBE statement on Sunday, this ambitious project is part of the central bank's broader commitment to corporate social responsibility, aligning with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's Bedaya – A New Beginning for Human Building Initiative to improve citizens' quality of life and provide better access to essential healthcare services.
The CBE's contributions included providing cutting-edge medical equipment and essential furnishings, both medical and non-medical, establishing the centre.
On this occasion, CBE Governor Hassan Abdallah reaffirmed the central bank's dedication to improving healthcare services in hospitals and medical centers nationwide. He highlighted that such a commitment aligns with presidential directives to reduce patient waiting lists and ensure access to healthcare for all, especially the most disadvantaged groups. By funding projects that advance medical services, the CBE supports sustainable development and contributes to the realisation of Egypt's Vision 2030.
The new liver transplant centre, covering 800 square meters and rising nine stories high, is built to the latest international medical standards. It includes three state-of-the-art operating rooms, 14 intensive care beds, five recovery beds, 56 patient rooms, and dedicated research facilities. With its advanced infrastructure, the center is set to perform up to five liver transplant surgeries weekly, a significant increase from the previous capacity of two. This milestone enhances its ability to serve more patients from Egypt as well as neighbouring Arab and African countries.
The CBE has recently intensified its efforts to support corporate social responsibility initiatives across various sectors, with healthcare taking center stage. Its contributions extend beyond financial backing for healthcare projects, encompassing support for national health programmes and partnerships with state institutions to enhance medical services and advance sustainable development goals in the health sector.
