Published in Amwal Al Ghad on 26 - 05 - 2013

Educational hub contains content which covers 17 subjects and stands to benefit more than 450,000 students.26th of May, 2013 - Cairo, Egypt - YouTube and CairoDar announced today they are launching an educational hub on YouTube which provides content for the third secondary grade. For the first time in Egypt and the MENA region, the 3rd year secondary school (Thanaweya Amma) curriculum content and revision summaries will be available online. The content will be available in useful and easily accessible video format via Google technologies on CairoDar's YouTube channel.
With more than 418,000 students taking the exam this year in Egypt; the educational hub promises to become an indispensable asset for those hundreds of thousands of students who have come to rely over the years on private tuition groups. In addition to students in Egypt, the educational hub will prove extremely useful for Egyptian students living abroad who are also taking the exams this Summer with 28,334 students applying for the Egyptian secondary diploma in KSA and 2,168 students in Italy.
“The biggest impact technology can have is on education." stated Doha Marzouk, Google's Head of Marketing for Egypt and North Africa. She added, “Education lies at the very core of our company's mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. We invest heavily in education initiatives and partnerships with organizations to provide resources, training, and tools that help them integrate new technologies such as YouTube."
The content on the hub is also available to students for free. This is especially useful for students outside of major cities for whom private tutorship groups are not always an option or are costly. Its presence also allows for wider access and more interactivity with the material. The educational material on the hub also allows students to quiz and test themselves using the interactive options available on the content.
The CairoDar YouTube channel contains more than of 900 videos which extensively cover all the different subjects in easy-to-use formats in highly organized playlists. Additional summary revision-specific videos have been developed for each subject with pre-exam day summaries, and key questions required for revisions based on past exams.
Khaled Salah, Editor-in-Chief of Youm7 stated: “Investing in education is investing in the future."
In addition to the 3rd secondary grade, CairoDar is planning to introduce content for two transitional years, the 1st and 2nd secondary grades later this year. CairoDar is also planning to introduce live-revision sessions via Google+ Hangouts On Air to students on their Google+ page later this Summer.
