Egypt's food exports increased by 2 percent year-on-year (YoY) to $2.6 billion during the first nine months of 2020, according to Food Export Council Egyptian food exports have increased despite the challenges posed by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the head of the Food Export Council, Hany Berzy, said. During the January-September period, food exports accounted for 14 percent of the country's total non-oil exports, he added Food exports dropped by 4 percent YoY to $293 million in September, but grew by 12 percent YoY to $264 million in August. June witnessed the highest value of food exports during 2020, jumping by 43 percent YoY to $346 million. Arab countries topped the destinations for Egypt's food exports with a value of $1.42 billion, followed by the European Union (EU) countries with $366 million, African countries with $305 million. Saudi Arabia was the largest importer of Egypt's food commodities, registering $244 million, followed by Jordan and the US with $132 million each.
