The Egyptian Competition Authority (ECA) said on Sunday it had approved the acquisition by U.S.-based ride-hailing group Uber of former regional rival Careem subject to conditions and commitments. In March, Uber bought Careem for $3.1 billion in a deal likely to close in January. Under the deal, Careem would become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Uber.
