The heatwave currently experienced by Cairenes is expected to continue until Friday, according to meteorologists, who said temperatures will not dip below 38C before the end of the week. Wahid Saudi, from the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, said humidity levels will reach 90 percent in the early morning, dropping to 40 percent in the afternoon. He attributed the heatwave to the Indian monsoon depression, along with mainly north-eastern winds arriving from the Arab Peninsula, an area known for its high temperatures. Cairo temperatures at the end of August usually range between 34C and 35C.
