MP says received threats over Mubarak prison transfer
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 17 - 02 - 2012

The head of the People's Assembly's Health Committee said he received threats on his mobile phone hours before visiting Tora Prison hospital to gauge its readiness to receive former President Hosni Mubarak.
Akram al-Shaer, a Freedom and Justice Party MP, told Al-Masry Al-Youm he received a text message on his phone Wednesday saying that if Mubarak was transferred to the prison hospital, all the members of his committee would be tried for premeditated murder.
He added that he also received a voicemail an hour later quoting Mubarak from a speech he gave on the night of the Battle of the Camel incident during the 18-day uprising against his rule early last year: “I will live and die on this land.”
Shaer informed People's Assembly Speaker Saad al-Katatny of the incident, he said, and will file a report with the attorney general if the Parliament does not react to the incident in its next session on Sunday.
He emphasized that the threats would not affect his stance on achieving retribution for the martyrs of the revolution and that his committee report would be delivered to the Parliament on Sunday.
On Wednesday, a delegation of 11 MPs visited the Tora Prison hospital to inspect the progress of its preparations to receive Mubarak.
Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said earlier this month that Mubarak regime figures incarcerated together at Tora Prison will be relocated to different buildings. Recently, MPs and activists have called for these former figures to be separated in the massive prison.
