Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif will chair a meeting of the Supreme Nile Water Commission in Alexandria on Thursday to discuss investment opportunities for Egyptian companies in states of the Nile Basin. The meeting is expected to be attended by 11 government ministers. The assembled ministers will present eight proposals for commercial cooperation with Nile Basin countries, in addition to incentives granted by the Egyptian government aimed at encouraging local investors to finance projects there. Egyptian Water Resources Minister Mohamed Nasr Eddin is expected to present investment opportunities in Nile Basin states for Egyptian firms working in the fields of agriculture, livestock importation, fish farming, power station construction and sewage networks. The meeting aims to kick-start implementation of the government's declared policy of enhancing cooperation with the upstream Nile region with a view to achieving mutual economic and political objectives. The government also plans to provide Nile Basin countries with expertise in a number of fields, as has been requested by these countries.
