Head of Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) Mustafa Abdel Jalil will arrive in Cairo on Tuesday on a two-day visit during which he will meet Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi and Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, reported state run news agency MENA. Ambassador Abdel Moneim al-Hony, the NTC representative in Egypt and at the Arab League, said the meeting will tackle Egypt's role in the reconstruction and development of Libya. In statements cited by MENA, Hony said Abdel Jalil, who will be accompanied by a senior delegation from the NTC, will also hold talks with Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Araby. He added that Abdel Jalil's visit to Egypt just after Muammar Qadhafi's fall reflects the importance the NTC gives to developing relations with Egypt, given the latter's regional role and political and military clout. Hony added that the choice of Egypt as the first destination to visit following the fall of Qadhafi's regime demonstrates that Libyans look forward to Egypt's participation in the reconstruction of Libya. Hony also said that Egypt refused to take a stand against the Libyan revolution or to give any financial or moral support to Qadhafi's regime. Egypt also refused Qadhafi's request that it close its borders with Libya, he added. Finally, MENA reported that he said Egypt's position during the Libyan revolution will go down in history as having helped the revolution succeed.
