Amid intense security, the Criminal Court of Ismailia resumed yesterday morning the trial of suspects alleged to have sold lands in Sinai to Israelis. Colonel Ayman el-Shafei, the prosecution witness, said the suspects deceitfully obtained clearances for the construction of a number of housing units near Coral Bay resort, Sharm el-Sheikh under the name of a company, though official investigations later proved they were in fact agents for foreign investors. El-Shafei stressed that through his own investigations--which he says relied on undisclosed official and secret sources--he found out that the primary suspect, Maher Fakher Iskandar, was previously accused of falsifying official documents.
