Coptic groups are divided over whether the community should participate in the "Path of Correction" protest Friday. Copts without Restrictions announced Wednesday they would join the demonstration, which aims to pressure the ruling military council to create a clear transition plan and end military trials for civilians. Copts for Egypt said they would not protest, whie the Maspero Youth Union has yet to announce its position. Haytham Kameel, member of the Copts without Restrictions politburo, said the group wants to play a role in achieving what it believes are legitimate demands including establishing a civilian government, eradicating corruption and ending emergency rule. Hany al-Gezeiry, spokesperson for the Copts for Egypt, wants military trials for civilians ended but said the ruling military council should be given the chance to hand over power to a democratic, civilian ruler. He added that he has informed the military council of the movement's demands. Meanwhile, Ramy Kamel, general coordinator for Maspero Youth Union, said the group's leadership will meet Thursday to decide whether to participate alongside dozens of activist and religious groups Friday.
