Govt to appoint 11 new governors

Egypt on Thursday announced the appointment of 11 new governors as part of the governor's reshuffle approved by interim Prime Minister Essam Sharaf. The move included the transfer of one governor and the appointment of three vice governors.
The Egyptian government is scheduled to present the selected names to the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces for approval.
The changes included the appointment of Major General Tariq al-Mahdi as governor of Wadi Gadid, Major General Adel Labib as governor of Qena, Maher Baybars as governor of Beni Suef, Major General Salah Maadawy as governor of Daqahlia and Osama Fouly as governor of Alexandria.
In addition, Major General Sayyed Borai was appointed as governor of Assiut, Mohamed Mokhtar Hamalawy as governor of Beheira, Major General Serag al-Din Rouby as governor of Minya, Azazi Ali Azazi as governor of Sharqiya, Ahmed Ali Ahmed as governor of Fayoum and Ambassador Ezzat Saad Mohamed as governor of Luxor.
The changes also included the transfer of Judge Mohammed Abdul Kader from Sharqiya to Gharbiya. On Thursday afternoon, Sharaf and Local Development Minister Mohamed Attiya met with the new appointees.
