MB to submit application for new party on Wednesday
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 17 - 05 - 2011

Director General of the Freedom and Justice Party Mohamed Saad al-Katatni has announced that he will submit the necessary documents for the establishment of the party on Wednesday morning. He will hand over the documentation to the Party's Committee at the Court of Cassation, which has responsibility for registering all new political parties.
The Muslim Brotherhood website reported Katatni as saying, “The Legal Committee has completed the preparation of all the party's papers, and all that is left is for them to apply and then publish the founders' names in two daily newspapers."
Katatni said the party now has 8882 founders and that it is due to issue an establishment statement explaining the party's principles and the main elements of its program. He pointed out that the statement would be distributed to the various media outlets.
Ahmed Abu-Baraka, Muslim Brotherhood member and representative of their new political party, told Al-Masry Al-Youm that Coptic thinker Rafiq Habib will be the new party's second deputy chairman.
For his part, Habib said, “According to the information I have, the decision to appoint me as deputy chairman of the party has not yet been finalized and is yet to be made.”
He went on to say that the party list now includes two vice-chairman of the party, and that the chairman will determine the duties of each vice-chairman.
In related news, Mohamed Morsi, the newly appointed president of party, said it is looking for Copts to nominate in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
During a symposium held in London on Monday evening, Morsi said, “The Brotherhood believes it should work on helping Christians win in the parliamentary elections.”
Morsi told the BBC that in the past the MB had coordinated with some Coptic Christians but that this did not last. He pointed out that among the 10,000 founding members of the new party, 100 are Coptic.
