The former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and head of the National Association for Change Mohamed ElBaradei will deliver a lecture on nuclear power and the role of the IAEA next week at Harvard University in the United States. Mohamed Abul Ghar, spokesperson for the National Association for Change (NAC) confirmed this meeting, saying he and Ayman Ismail, the NAC coordinator in the United States, rented a hall at Harvard University, where ElBaradei--a potential contender for the 2011 presidential election--will meet with US-based members of the NAC. The meeting will also focus on the future of democracy in Egypt. More than 1500 Egyptians living in the United States requested to attend the meeting; however, the meeting hall can only accommodate 120 people. ElBaradei will also meet members from the board of directors of the Alliance of Egyptian-Americans, headed by Mahmoud el-Shazly, before the Harvard meeting, said Abul Ghar. Meanwhile, the Harvard University website said ElBaradei will deliver his lecture on international security, nonproliferation of nuclear weapons and theories of preemptive war in the main hall of the John F. Kennedy School of Government. In related news, Egyptians living in the United States formed a Facebook group entitled Egyptians in the US for Change. The group's administrators said they seek to allow expatriate Egyptians to vote in the upcoming presidential election and want to open nominations for the presidency without excessive restrictions.
