Secretary of Political Affairs at the Democratic Front Party (DFP) Ibrahim Nawar has accused the Muslim Brotherhood of attempting to make deals with the regime to guarantee the Brotherhood's continued presence on the political scene . On the sidelines of a conference held two days ago by the DFP to announce its boycott of the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections, Nawar launched a severe attack on the MB bloc in parliament, saying that members of the MB benefited the most from state-financed medical treatment services. Nawar also said that the Brotherhood has tended to focus on external issues at the expense of internal problems such as unemployment. In addition it did not participate in recent protests, the last of which were held on 6 April, he said. "The MB must either form a charity organization or a political party," said Nawar. "If they manage to have a party, they should work according to the rules that govern the performance of parties and stay away from the idea of having a secret organization." DFP President Osama el-Ghazali Harb on the other hand said he recognizes the MB as a political faction in Egypt, though he totally rejects their ideas on Copts, women and the civil state. El-Ghazali also revealed that he and his first deputy--Ibrahim Nawar--had agreed to enter into dialogue with the MB last week but the majority of the party's executive board had rejected such a meeting.
