The vaulted archway
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 23 - 02 - 2011

Did anyone calculate that the element of technology was the hidden door to oust NAZIF'S government? Surely all scenarios were out all of calculations.
First of all, access to communications has grown exponentially since it was first made available to the public in the last century Nineties. The former has been much hailed as an engine of the economic growth.
On the telecommunications front, the ousted government managed to achieve the digital transition Egypt was in need, it's worth noting that Egypt has occupied privilege rank in the international classifications --human resources capabilities are the milestone in pushing Egypt forward--giving this country more of a say around the globe. Smart village is the perfect model of the individuals' contributions model in the information industry.
The official figures shown that the users of internet have much increased, broadband internet services have witnessed momentum but remain so expensive in a society more than 30 million citizens live on two bucks a day.
Later generation mobile phones such as apple Iphones are available but without the global positioning system (GPS) feature under the pretext that the terrorist might target military installations, the social networks such as facebook, twitter and YouTube are freely available.
On the other front, there were the crooks or those who struggling for pulling Egypt into the middle ages claiming that such things jeopardize the national security.
One of the most important drawbacks the ousted regime intended to do, the unprecedented embargo on the (blogosphere), undoubtedly many bloggers have been targeted by the security official claiming these groups --seems that these youths are merry-freakin poppins --are inflaming the public sentiments then seems as an attempt of a coup but this is so far from the reality because these guys trying to obscure the corruption in which we are stuck.
Although the legal environment upholds freedom of speech according to 2003 law on telecommunications as well as guaranteeing the citizen's right to privacy, also requires a judicial warrant for surveillance ,the security apparatus have broad authority to monitor and sensor all communications.
The press law passed in 2006 preserved provisions that criminalize" spreading false news and criticizing the head of state of Egypt or another country".
The ousted regime has been counting on the security apparatus as the six-pack man to forcefully oppress people.
The systematic violations of human rights the authorities perpetuated against the bloggers and also the governmental crack down on the average-looking fellows , perpetual pressures on citizens due to the hard daily life conditions , the huge disparities of wages ,perpetual suffering between the haves and have-nots,systematic campaigns to forcefully pass the long waited inheritance project and the injustice and unfair treatment in "all state apparatus and the administrative bodies", the formers nestled with the complicated circumstances most of Egyptians' hues live helped much creating creepy environment conducive to exploding the25th January revolution .
In nutshell, Mr. NAZIF has offered the internet revolution as a swish-kabobs meal to be one day the fundamental cause of his heinous, humiliating and suspicious departure from the public life.
There was no one did predict that the element of technology was the vaulted achway in which Mubarak and his son's cohort will be stuck .
