Egypt's opposition figures on Sunday reiterated their criticism of the ruling National Democratic Party (NDP), vowing to bring down the newly-elected parliament. Participating in the annual conference of the 6th of April Movement on Saturday, the oppositionists accused the ruling party of deception by describing the recent parliamentary elections as "fair" and "democratic." The event coincided with the NDP's 7th annual conference. National Association for Change (NAC) member Mahmoud al-Khodeiry said the NDP practices "systematic, institutional counterfeit." The NAC was founded by former UN nuclear chief and political reformist Mohamed ElBaradei. Former MP and professor of political science, Gamal Zahran, said the palriamentary elections were a travesty. He argued that the NDP had the intention of politically "assassinating" its rivals in order to rid the parliament of any genuine opposition presence. "We will not remain silent.
