President Mubarak mocked the idea of a shadow parliament in his speech to parliament Sunday. Former MPs who lost in the parliamentary elections recently announced they would form such a body. “Let them have fun,” Mubarak said. The 118 former MPs last week declared their intention to form a shadow parliament to monitor the performance of the government. They also submitted lawsuits requesting the elections be nullified, claiming they were rigged. For its part, the Muslim Brotherhood--the largest opposition group in Egypt--said it would report the elections rigging to international human rights organizations. Translated from the Arabic Edition.
