The constituencies of Borollos and Hamoul in the province of Kafr al-Sheikh have seen violent clashes between NDP and Muslim Brotherhood (MB) supporters. Nominees vying for the professional seats in the two constituencies are Essam Abdel Ghaffar (NDP candidate) and Hamadein Sabbahy (independent candidate). Meanwhile, representatives of Ali al-Shishtawy (MB candidate for the workers seat) were denied entry to polling stations by security forces, who said the necessary proxies had not been obtained from the police department. In Gharbiya, the electoral district of Samannoud witnessed a fight with so-called "white weapons" (knives and chains) between supporters of Gaber al-Ashry (NDP candidate for the professional seat) and Mohamed al-Barbary (NDP candidate for the workers seat) on one side, and the backers of Abdel Halim Hilal (Muslim Brotherhood candidate). Bullets were fired in the air, and a microbus owned by one nominee was attacked. Security forces reacted by firing tear gas to separate the rioters. Secret service agents stood in front of the polling stations located at the Sadat school and Al-Azhar institute. Three Muslim Brotherhood supporters were reported to be injured.
