The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) opposition group announced plans to meet with members of the Constitutional Party and the Democratic Front Party this week in hopes of mending fences with Egypt's secular opposition forces. As to rumored meetings with the liberal Wafd Party, MB Guidance Bureau member Mohamed Morsy said that both sides had agreed to "initiate dialogue." Wafd Party President Mahmoud Abaza, however, said that MB leader Mohamed Badie "must himself request such a meeting with us before our executive board can decide on the matter." Wafd Party Assistant Secretary General Sami Balah, for his part, said his party had no intention of coordinating with the MB in the run-up to parliamentary elections slated for later this year. "There will be no coordination except with our announced coalition with the three other opposition parties," he said, noting that the Wafd preferred to deal with licensed political parties rather than informal groups or movements.
