The US embassy in Egypt urged its nationals on Tuesday to take precautions following a deadly bombing in a tourist bazaar in Cairo last Sunday, saying more attacks could be planned. "These events do not appear to be connected, but there is some indication that additional incidents are planned," a statement on the embassy's website said. "We advise Americans to take great care in visiting these sites, to remain strictly alert to their surroundings and to practice good personal security measures," it said referring to major tourist sites and public places. The message added that the Egyptian government has intensified its security measures in central Cairo, major tourist sites and public places like malls. Speaking to Al-Masry Al-Youm, an official source with the US embassy said: "We do not have information about new terrorist attacks, but this message only asks people to take precautions." Speaking on condition of anonymity, security sources said the security bodies have tightened measures and inspected visitors in tourist sites after the message was published. Other security sources said the security services got important information about those involved in the Khan al-Khalili blasts. The names of the involved will be announced within few days. In a related context, Minister of Tourism Zuheir Garana met yesterday with US tour operators in the presence of Amr el-Ezaby, Chairman of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, and a number of US journalists specialized in tourism. El-Ezaby said the meeting was attended by some 30 U.S. tour operators.
