In protest against the British-Israeli relations, and in solidarity with the Palestinian people after the Gaza massacre, the Nottingham University students yesterday staged a sit-in on campus and demanded cutting relations with Israel. The student union website said that the demonstrators played a documentary showing the extent of media bias in covering the events in the region, and that they would continue their protest until their demands are met. They were applauded by a sympathetic audience for their demands, which included condemnation of the recent Israeli military operations, academic and financial support to the Palestinian students of the university and boycott of all companies that have contributed to this conflict. It said the students came prepared with sleeping-bags, food and laptops so as to stay till their demands are met.
The site also said that at least 16 other universities in the country joined the protest, and that two of them got their demands.
