More angry demonstrations were staged yesterday all over Egypt to express solidarity with Gaza and call for the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador from Cairo, a halt to Egyptian gas exports to Israel, and the opening of the border crossings to help the Palestinian resistance. The most prominent demonstration was held by the mentally-disabled pupils of an educational school, as well as their teachers, in Menya. They raised slogans rejecting the slaughter of innocent children, elderly and women by Israel. Amid tightened security measures, dozens of Nasserist lawyers criticized in front of the Bar Association Egypt's official stance on the events in Gaza. They called for opening the Rafah crossing, protecting relief convoys to Gaza, and supplying the Palestinians with aid and medicines. They also described the Gaza blockade and invasion as a vicious crime. More than 15,000 members of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group staged a demonstration in Damanhour in solidarity with Gaza. Meanwhile, almost 4,000 MB students from the universities of Assiut and Al-Ahzar (Assiut branch) demonstrated and called for opening the border crossings and fighting the jihad. In Menoufia, some 200 doctors belonging to the Doctors' Syndicate staged a demonstration to criticize the Arab governments' silence and incapability. They also thanked Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez for expelling the Israeli ambassador from his country.
