A health committee formed by Alexandria Governor Adel Labib has cleared a female nurse of using only one injection needle with 30 students at al-Khansa'a school in Sidi Gaber. The number of needles used is the same as the number of students injected, said the committee, while the school headmaster insisted the nurse had used one needle for 30 shots. The headmaster, the nurse and the doctor had been referred to Alexandria's Legal Affairs Department and the governor intended to refer them to the Public Prosecution in case they were proved guilty, said Dr. Salama Abdel Monem, Health Ministry undersecretary in Alexandria during a session of the province's Local Council yesterday. 620,000 students have been vaccinated so far, namely 65% of the target. 200 cases raised complaints, but only 11 were sound, he added. He said side effects on some vaccinated students were natural, expected and harmless. There was nothing dangerous with the cases that were hospitalized and they left hospital shortly later, he added. In another context, Abdel Monem said the Ukrainian wheat which entered Egypt via Alexandria and Dekheila ports was good and fit for human consumption. This was also confirmed by Social Solidarity Ministry Undersecretary, Musad el-Menwati, who said the Ukrainian wheat had been mixed with ordinary wheat when complaints had increased. The head of the Local Council, though, saw Menwati's speech as a proof that Ukraine wheat did not meet specifications.
