Sources: Ayman Nour''s Supporters Have Disappeared for Fear of Thugs
Published in Almasry Alyoum on 22 - 11 - 2008

Ghad Party's main figures belonging to Ayman Nour's front have disappeared from the political scene after the fire at the party's headquarters.
They have in fact stopped submitting notifications, requesting testimonies, issuing statements and making declarations.
Only Nour's wife Gameela Ismaila has been seen in public. On the other hand, the party's president Ehab el-Kholi has been seen only once after the Prosecution allowed him and Mrs. Ismail to visit the burnt headquarter.
Likewise, Nour's front's candidate for the party's presidency, Wael Nawwara, has also disappeared.
According to a high-level source in Nour's front, el-Kholi suffered from diabetic coma during the November 6 incidents, has turned off his mobile and does not answer the phone at home.
The source explained that el-Kholi has repeatedly said that his front is weaker than Hamida's and Moussa's ones.
He also said he was afraid of Hamida's relations with thugs and added hat a member of Nour's front might also be killed if they continued to escalate their actions, the source affirmed.
Wael Nawwara denied disappearing and justified the absence saying that after the fire he and his colleagues have been working in their houses or meeting in public places.
"If you follow the media or log on to Facebook, you will learn that we have organized a strong campaign to criticize what happened to the party as well as a fund-raising campaign to repair it" he said.
He added that Ehab el-Kholi was ill, while the rest of the party members visited Mr. Nour in the place where he is being kept in custody to inform him of the situation and consult him about what to do.
Ghad Party's Secretary General (Nour's front) El-Sayyed Bassiouny justified his absence saying that Moussa's goal is "to prevent us from carrying out our political work, that's why he keeps on holding political forums almost every day at the party's headquarters in Alexandria". He also affirmed that Moussa is loyal to the regime.
In an exclusive interview given to Al-Masry Al-Youm, he said Moussa was leveling accusations at Gameela Ismail because she is Nour's wife, represents Nour's "spirit" and is therefore opposed to the regime.
Bassiouny said he had received a phone call on November 6 in the morning from the party's secretary general (Moussa's front), who told him his men were coming and that Bassiouny and the other had to leave the party.
Gameela Ismail said: "Regardless of the other party's leaders, I'll not keep silent. I have nothing to lose after Ayman's office has been burnt". "I want the truth, even if I end up in jail" she added.
